Donald Karner

President of Electric Applications Incorporated

Donald Karner is the president of Electric Applications Incorporated (EAI), located in Phoenix, Arizona. EAI conducts laboratory testing of various battery technologies, performs energy storage application development, and supports battery research and development. The EAI testing laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025 requirements, and utilizes over 200 channels of battery cycling equipment to support its staff of PhD chemists, chemical and electrical engineers.

Prior to founding EAI, Mr. Karner founded and served as president of Electric Transportation Engineering Corporation (ETEC), specializing in fast charge infrastructure solutions for on-road and off-road electric vehicle applications and development and testing of alternative fuel vehicles.

In addition to his 30 years of battery and electric vehicle experience at ETEC and EAI, Karner has 15 years of experience in the electric utility industry where he served as executive vice president and chief nuclear officer for construction and operation of the 4,100 megawatts Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

Karner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University and a Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Arizona. He is also a graduate of the public utility executive program of the University of Michigan.
