The U.S. Department of Transportation regulation 49CFR172.704 requires mandatory training and recurrent training every two years (24 mos) for all personnel who manage or handle hazardous materials, including hazardous wastes via air. The requirement applies to employees that select or fill packages, label containers, fill out shipping papers, load or unload cargo vehicles or containers, operate transportation equipment, or are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous materials/wastes. The IATA Dangerous Goods Training Course is required for employees who are involved in the packaging and shipment of Packed Cargo Air Consignments. **Important Notice** This course has a MANDATORY PREREQUISITE: Due to the advanced nature of the content being covered, the student MUST show successful completion of one of the following courses: 1) A current IATA Certification (within the last 24 months) or; 2) A current DOT Hazmat Transportation Certification (within the last 2 years) under 49 CFR 172.704 Students must bring a current copy of the IATA manual with them to class.
