PHOENIX — An advanced technology company announced Wednesday plans to develop a lab at the Arizona State University Polytechnic campus in Mesa.

Mechnano, a nanotechnology company, works with scientists and entrepreneurs to improve existing manufacturing materials with carbon nanotube-based technology.

In the new lab, Mechnano will provide educational opportunities to ASU students on cutting-edge nanotechnology processes and procedures. The organization also aims to train students in the best practices for lab work and data recording.

“This collaboration with ASU is a perfect example of how the most innovative university in the country is working directly with advanced technology companies like Mechnano to provide a unique learning experience for ASU students while directly benefiting the company,” Steven Lowder, CEO and co-founder of Mechnano, said in a press release.

The lab will be part of the ASU Polytechnic Innovation District, which sits adjacent to the ASU Polytechnic campus, according to the release.

The polytechnic school is one of the six schools comprising ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.
