Expertise: Environmental applications and implications of nanomaterials, water/wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste, environmental and emergency management
Kiril D. Hristovski is an associate professor of Environmental Engineering and Management in the Polytechnic School at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus, and is affiliated with ASU’s Global Institute of Sustainability as a Senior Sustainability Scientist. Hristovski is also a member of the Humanitarian Engineering and GlobalResolve faculty at the Polytechnic campus, and a graduate faculty member in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Hristovski serves in the leadership of the Center for Emergency Management and Homeland Security at Arizona State University as a liaison for international collaboration.
Hristovski’s interests focus on environmental applications and implications of nanotechnology, water/wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental challenges in the developing world, and environmental engineering/homeland security nexus issues with emphasis on topics related to international emergency management. Hristovski teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in environmental engineering and management related to hazardous materials and waste, solid waste, water and wastewater treatment technologies, and unit treatment technologies. He also serves as the PI for the Environmental Technology Laboratory located on the Polytechnic Campus.
Hristovski is a Fulbright Fellow with an extensive publication record of over 50 peer-reviewed articles and over 60 conference papers and presentations. His scholarship portfolio includes service as a PI/co-PI on over 20 federally, state, and industry projects. He is an editorial board member of Elsevier’s Environmental Nanotechnology, Monitoring, and Management Journal. Hristovski is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Society for Engineering Education, Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors, and Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization.
On a personal note, Hristovski considers himself proudly owned by a Golden Retriever named Sasha, a German Shepherd named Toby and three felines named Minky, Timmy and Tiger-Lilly.
