Carolyn Hirata is a lecturer and program chair in the Technological Entrepreneurship and Management Program at the Polytechnic School, one of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. She worked in industry at Motorola for 15 years, where she served as a Manufacturing Manager and Director of Human Resources.
While a part of the manufacturing organization at Motorola, Hirata was responsible for process improvement, served an internal examiner for the Baldrige National Quality Award and ISO 9000 certification, chaired employee improvement teams and developed process training programs for manufacturing. As a Human Resources Director, Hirata focused on acquisitions, mergers and plant closures as well as leadership development, performance management metrics, succession planning, compensation administration and 360 degree feedback for leadership.
