Plan of Study (iPOS)

The Plan of Study, also known as the iPOS, is a list of coursework selected by the student with direction from the graduate faculty advisors. The iPOS functions as a contract between the student, the academic unit, and the Graduate College. The iPOS must be completed within the first semester. The iPOS will outline the courses to be taken from start to finish to meet degree and graduation requirements. GIT students must complete the iPOS form (part of GIT537 coursework) and route to their respective faculty advisors for approval. Students will need to include the following to meet the 30 credit hour requirement:

  • 6 core
    • GIT 500
    • GIT 537
  • 15 credit hours in a technical area of emphasis
  • 3-9 credit hours of electives
  • Culminating experience
    • GIT 599 Thesis (6 credits)
    • GIT 593 Applied Project (3 credits)
    • Portfolio (0 credits)

Faculty advisor names must be listed on the iPOS. Your professor for GIT537 Cross Media Productions (to be taken in your first semester) will assist you in identifying your faculty advisors. See the Faculty Advisor page for more information on eligible faculty advisors.
